Sarkhej Roza is the name of the place where I photographed this beautiful lattice carved from stone.
Situated 8km away from Ahmedebad, Sarkhej was famous for its indigo production and the Dutch established a factory here in 1620. The Sarkhej Roza complex is an example of the early Islamic architectural culture of the region, which fused Islamic stylistic influences from Persia with Hindu and Jain features.
The complex comprises mainly of a mausoleum, a mosque and a palace around a lake.
The mausoleum is that of Mahmoud Begada and next to his connected is that of his queen.
People from both the Hindu and Muslim communities come here to pray for the well being of their near and dear ones.

Hi Wanda
Nice idea and beautiful silouhette of that lattice, sharpness is perfect but i think crop could be improved on top by not cutting a design sction in half, it would enhance the graphical impact
Merry Xmas and happy new year
I make a small WS
Laurent

Hi Wanda,

A well documented and written note that makes us enjoy and appreciate your photo.

The total contrast between latticed stone and exterior light makes your subject looks like a black & white illustration. The delicate carving is impressive and you captured it well. Maybe the upper row is not necessary, but I’ll try a workshop to see what it looks like.

Have a very pleasant Holiday Season Wanda!

André

P.S.: Whoupss! I just found out that while I was writting this comment, Laurent made the same critique and did a workshop...

Hi Wanda!

Congratulations for this excellent shot! Great idea and realisation, that gives a very original result. Beautiful patterns and shapes!

Hercules

I like this Wanda, it's a strongly graphic image, exposed perfectly to render the intricate latticework in silhouette.
I agree with Laurent that it would have been better to have the black frame running along the top edge of the image rather than cutting through the lattice like it is at the moment.
I also think that you could maybe have burnt in the pale patches on the frame on the right so that it was pure black.
These are minor points though, and I think you did well here.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Wanda,
wonderful shot. I ask myself about the work behind (what I do often seeing such work like in churches or anywhere). The integrated change of the forms tells a bit about the process to create it.
TFS and Merry Christmas, Ulf

Hi Wanda,
Very nice geometric compo. It's hard to believe that is made in stone.
Although I like Laurent siolaw's WS, in which he shows that the upper row doesn't add much, I don't resist going a little farther with the symetry, so I am posting another WS.
TFS, Regards, Jose.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hello Wanda,
This is splendid shot!! I can't imagine that the lattice is made of stone... Very interesting shot and note.
Best regards and Merry Christmas!
Andrzej

Beautiful art work. And this is for the stone work and for your photo. The sharpness is excellent giving a perfect silhouette. Your note is quite good but it is missing something about the work on the photo. What is it? A wall, a box?
Antonio

Hi Wanda,

Interesting work, I like the contrast of the light and the forms that creates, beautiful illumination and good colours in black and white, the composition would be better if you trimmed the superior zone like in the WS, anyway a good creative work.

Regards
José

Hello Wanda
This lattice work looks like B&W stencilwork here. Intensely graphical with amazing workmanship of the men who created it. Your idea is very original & bravo for that
Wishing you a very merry Christmas

Great note for this unusual geometrical composition. You played very well with the through light creating this blak and white shot of the patterns.

have a great holiday!

Thats beautiful light and shadow coposition of ancient architectural design Wanda. The symmetry and the way you've framed it add so much elan and finesse to the shot. Great work. TFS. Regards

Hello Wanda,
nice graphic image Wanda. I like the repetition on each line and the new graphic on the next line. I like what you have done with it:pitch blach wall and completely washed exterior, which makes for perfect contrast between black and white.
I think you've already been said, but the upper line should have been completely cropped or completely included. It is a minor detail, I know, but in such a simplistic composition, those details come out. Another thing are the details visible on the right which are a bit distracting. It is clear that your goal here was to attract all our attention on the graphics and not on the wall details.
It is a GREAT idea though!:D
Have a nice year!
Marc
