Taken at a place called Girnar hill. This hill is a pilgrimage for hundreds of people each day. You climb up about 10,000 steps to the top. Halfway up the hill levels out a bit and there are many Hindu and Jain temples in this area, so people from both religions make the climb. The steps were built between 1889 and 1908. There are many refreshment stalls on the route, and the climb is best begun at dawn. Some people are carried up the hill by porters on portable chairs, but we saw that this was mostly sick and elderly people. It takes several hours to make the climb and come down again. We only made it to about 4500 steps due to time constraints.
I was in two minds as to upload this shot or not, and I had to burn in the lighter areas of vegetation and might have overdone it.

Hi Wanda!
Very interesting picture! India provided you a lots of fantastic photos, a kind of muse...I like a lot this quite unusual POV, hence an intriguing composition. Nice autumnal colors and stunning sharpness. The picture is well balanced between areas of vegetation and steps in the rocks.
Cheers, Seb

Hello! Nice shot, interesting POV. Regards! Andrzej

Regards vanessa

Hi Wanda,
well chosen POV and with success taken the wonderful light play.
The dark stairs are a good contrast to the green below and behind. I like it.
Cheers, Ulf

Hello Wanda,
This is really unusual shot! Great perspective and very good composition; only the light conditions weren't too advantageous, but the photo is very interesting.
Best regards,
Andrzej

These pilgramage places are always very interesting. Your POV from above on the stairs and pilgrims is very effective especially with the strong light on the vegetation.

Wanda,
A stupendous effort.
The stairs are perfectly postioned in the frame to explain all the action happening which contrast with the surrounding.
The most important thing is your POV which brings the enormity out for us to see...
Well done.
Prem.

I like the contrast between the sunlit and shadowy areas in this one Wanda, I don't think you overdid it at all.
Your top-down viewpoint looking down on the steps exaggerates their steepness, as does the way the zig-zags appear so tightly compressed.
Good work.
Ben

Bonita composición wanda con el bullicio de la escalera del primer plano y un gran paisaje marcado por una buena luz en el fondo.
Es una imagen para buscar detalles.
Un saludo: Javi

Hi Wanda,
I was absent for a long time... Between your last photos I prefer this one: not only for its sharpness and colors but because it's full of life!
Nice!

Hello Wanda,
Interesting to see this long stairway to the hill. In like that they were following the lines of the hill - nowadays the hill should follow the ideal path of the stairway - we take from the hiéé or put some material for the building.

From technical point of view you may crop from the top - it woudl enhance the stairway and reduce the slightly burnt areas. I hope you don't mind my opinion:)

TFS,
Miklós

Hi Wanda
Amicalement
Daniel
