Harihara Temple I is one of a trio of temples located just south of the Sachiya Mata Temple. It is the most southerly of the three, and faces to the west. A probable construction date from circa 725AD has been suggested. Why three fairly similar temples is not at all evident.The temple rests on a rectangular platform (jagati) and is surrounded by a quartet of subsidiary shrines positioned at the corners of the terrace (panchayatana). On the lintel over the door of the sanctuary, Vishnu is depicted riding Garuda. This view is from the south. The subsidiary shrine shown in this photo, on the northeast corner, is most likely dedicated to Vishnu.
