Photographer’s Note

Pendant la journée, le champ de foire de la « Camel Mela » de Pushkar est une ruche bourdonnante où s’agitent maquignons, bateleurs, forains….
Lorsque le soleil vient à se coucher, les femmes regagnent leur campement pour préparer le dîner et les hommes ramènent à l’entrave les animaux qu’ils on fait essayer aux potentiels acheteurs. Les conversations sur les affaires de la journée peuvent alors débuter en buvant le thé.

During the day, the « Camel Mela » fairground in Pushkar is a buzzing beehive where traders, jugglers, stallkeepers ... bustle around .
When sunset time has come, women go back to their campground to prepare diner and men put back the animals, horses or dromadaries, to their lead, that their potential buyers have tested. Conversations on the events of the day may then start while drinking tea.

Bonjour Patrick,

Une scene de la vie de tous les jours qui me plait beaucoup, j ai meme l impression d y etre.
La photo souffre un peut de la zone brulée tout en haut avec le soleil, mais c est a force de detailler les photos, on finit par voir tous les details. Ca reste evidemment secondaire sur cette photo.
Une question quand meme: il est evident que tu n etais pas caché pour prendre cette photo. Comment etais tu 'apprécié' ou intégré pour etre autorisé a prendre cette photo. Tu avais fait connaissance auparavant ou tu as seulement demandé l autorisation avant de cadrer?

Bonjour Patrick,

A very relaxed scene, seeming to show that these men don't find your presence intrusive at all. The heavy exposure in the horizon adds to the evening mood of the scene. As far as the composition, I really like the place of the red turban in the middle (with the two other coloured ones completing the triangle).

Un beau témoignage de la vie des marchands, bien composée dans un tableau aux teints sombres, et les activités de marché bien visibles à l'arrière-plan. Une photo comme j'aimerais en voir plus souvent sur ce site.

Très belle scène de vie avec un dépaysement garanti!
L'image est un peu surexposée sur le haut mais, quelle ambiance!! J'aime beaucoup.

Very good shot which has a good atmosphere!
Framework, sharpness and light control are perfect as usual. Specially light is warm and comfortable.

Hi Patrick!
I had to leave a note here also.....this photo is full of stories and implications. The dust in the background....the setting sun, the horses tied, the tents, and I think camels in the background....wow...lots speaking here! And of course, and most importantly, the men "hanging out" after a long day! Naturally the turbans are a wonderful contributor also! Great work! cheers,

a very natural group portrait, noone seems to mind you being here. The relaxed poses of these guys are great, i wonder what they were talkign about. I really like how the bright pink turban in the FG comes back in the sunset sky.

Fascinating composition. The deepening shadows contribute to the whole, and the milling dust suggests the end to a busy day. Very interesting. Thanks, Judy
