Photographer's Note

Mandawa is a wonderful place to visit in the less frequently visited Shekhawati region of Rajasthan (north-east area). The Havelis are being restored and repainted to their original colourful glory. They were built for the wealthy rajput merchants in the 18th century. The town is no longer so important for trade but because it has so many beautiful buildings and interesting streets it is worth detouring from the normal Rajasthan tour routes to visit. While wandering around Mandawa we came across this delightful scene. I believe that the man is making tea (cha) and selling it. Tea seems to be a favourite drink sold by the roadside.
