An old weather beaten wall caught my eye and I wonder where the green door leads no one knows. In some ways it's a typical scene in Jodhpur Blue City, minus the hordes of people of course and the concentration on the textures and decay of the physical environment, which is what interested me here.
Wandering this densely populated old place with an amazing array of old narrow alleys brings lot of surprises, as there is so much life going on here, somewhat gives the feeling of an old time rustic feel. I never get bored, always there is something to discover, to look at, to feast the eyes and it seems never stop........

Is this picture taken in the blue city of Jodhpur?
In that case the man on the chariot has adjusted his clothes.
Despite the decay of the doors and the walls the colours are very vivid.
Best regards, Paul

A very colourful street scene, filled with astonishing details. The man adds life and the cart is an interesting inclusion.

Malgré la façade délabrer les couleurs ressorte bien, le bleu de la tenue de l'homme est assorti a la ville, intéressante image, scène et présentation

very masterly composed image with the colors contrasting with dark and grey elements. The beggar has been placed very smartly slightly in the corner but still he draws attention very much. Well framed and with well given contrast and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

I like very much the one-word-title you chose for this photo, it refers effectively to the setting, the textures and the way of living in this place. The tightly framed setting looks very rich in textures and colours, it's like a book from which I can read only one word with confidence (a word of greek origin too:) The rest of the story is described by what has been added or peeled off by time or human activity. The man looks comfortable in this mysterious setting and his curious gaze has great impact on the viewer. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

L'endroit est plutôt délabré mais les couleurs ressortent sur la photo. Mon regard a été attiré aussi par le vieux charriot à quatre roues de cet homme. Bien fait.

There are palaces and there are such ruined houses in the world. This is a documentary photo of an poor and amazingly colorful place, well captured and presented

ou're capturing well this daily life by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interestig and impressive to see the rustic surrondings and primitive lifestyle. It's harmonized strangely for the balance between green door and the wall with the scribble. And, the sitting man looks like to live through his own pace in this city.
krzychu30 (15510) 2014-03-07 0:32
well,this is truly delightful!
First because of the scene itself and what it presents and secondly because your perfect post procession work.It helped really the scene to take on a new look and to bring out so excellently all textures of the walls behind.
Beautiful and having its own charm scene.

In this street-shot the salesman plays a minor part and I guess that for you he is mainly an excuse for showing a fascinating wall. It looks hopelessly decayed but still shows vibrant signs of life. There are so many details to watch among the faded paint, peeled plaster and broken wood.

a beautiful study this. So much character and as you say rustic charm. Superbly composed and executed it is a fascinating and irresistible image. Well done!
Have a good weekend - B.

Excellent photo with fine details. The framing is perfect, you have positioned the man nicely on the right side and the old door in top part of the frame, in this way you have created excellent balance and harmony.
All in very good light and well balanced colors.
Very well done
Wish you a very nice weekend.

Beautiful colours shown in the pic. I like it. Sharpness and contsast is also good.

a great composition here. I like the graphitty on the wall. Interesting 'words' there. Do you know the meaning of it? An interesting combination there, a lady's tailor, a music shop and an S.T.D. booth. A multi-purpose shop indeed... On the other hand you got a road side vendor, probably of vegetables with its owner, sitting on his portable shop. Interesting composition indeed. Love this frame. Excellent... Tfs.

And you just don't stop churning out these wonderful pictures, do you? The presence of the man in the bright blue shirt is a very important element in the composition, as he seems to balance the gaudy signs on the other side of the frame. And is that some sort of bicycle by him? What a weird contraption. Another street classic.
Noel_Byrne (28162) 2014-03-07 11:22
Indeed a feast for the eyes, my own are drawn to both the classic old bike and the beautiful script in the upper left, while every inch between them is coated with rich, amazing and very real textures. I like the gentle smile on the mans face too, he looks very pleased to be part of your composition, and who can blame him!
Thanks as always

The attractive old wall with its patina of old posters and paint is on its own a good subject. Together with the man on his cart it becomes a comprehensive and rich image of a small corner in Johdpur Abmdsudi. A fine shot in your familiar style.
Have a good weekend
jacquest (18919) 2014-03-09 4:52
Good capture of this old wall coupled with a portrait of this man. The framing is well done and the ligh brings out colors and sharpness.
nikkitta (17066) 2014-03-09 14:01
What a well composed indian scene, street vendor, rustic if not ruined building and vibrant colors
Very well composed scene
Congrats and tfs
What I like the more because I used it a lot is the STD letters meaning there is a phone from which to call wherever you want just for a few rupees
eldancer1 (33901) 2014-03-09 15:50
It is an amazing image from that part of the world--the most populous country in the world yet you were able to get just one person in this photo. The building may look old but the padlocks on the door it looks like it is still being used. I like the textures of the weather beaten wall and if it can only talk... Nice soft lighting, goes with the mood. Well done, tfs.
macjake (63172) 2014-03-16 12:04
this is great!
showing the real grit and grime of the city.
this is for sure one of the places in the world I want to see for myself - and of course with camera in hand :)
awesome note about the door, yes...who knows whats behind it, perhaps the man is guarding it :)
so much dirt and filth, i love it!
kwekwekan (1078) 2014-03-23 8:49
You have some fantastic street scenes in your gallery and this one is no exception. You have a trademark style with these images, shooting with a straight on POV and strong horizontal lines guiding the eye across the image. It works well and is always a delight to the eyes. Great textures and colours in this one as well.
tatadalou (7305) 2014-03-29 6:56
Great picture, full of details to see, from the man to the old green door, through the textures of decay,...
The light strongly enhances the colours, that's so nice.
