This is just a simple scene on a busy street outside Mehrangarh Fort in old city of Jodhpur. There is always some real nice stuff here and Rajasthan in particular looks such an exciting and colourful place with spectacular light quality that it must be hard to leave. Like any street photography there is seldom a chance to manipulate the elements into shapes that work to perfection and here is no different, but the eye contact makes me especially very pleased.
Your guess is as good as mine as to why I was struck by the typical street character of this better known place as The Blue City. Photo opportunity is tremendous and I could go on and on with these shots but called it a day with this one; a spectacle of riotous colours, smells, cultures, tastes, music and the gritty appeal that seems to reach right into the lives of those souls.
This is not to exaggerate the facts, that even a blind person would be dazzled by it. Images are more just sceneries, they touch our hearts, our minds and project feelings and artistic impressions.
But something is missing here, the sound of her drum beats........

Great composition and such fantastic colours too! For me though it's the eyes looking at the lens and the overall composition feels very harmonious.

Again a shot with just incredible colours. And also an excellent portrait, reactions to your camera seem quite natural. That huge drum is quite surprising element!

Colors of India could have been also the title for this colorful street scene, taken at Chock Tower Square?
Quite agree with you buildings remain, but this scene is only yours, the contact eye with the woman, the posture, a pity I cant also heard the sound of the drum
Great color contrast where the blue of the wall helps
Congrats and TFS
Interesting and touching note

Which market stall is the most visible in the Blue City of Jodhpur? Not the one where blue clothes are sold. It will be more successful to sell these in the Pink City Jaipur.
Extremely colourful shot. A fantastic yelling scene!
Best regards, Paul

That are the true colour tones of India, it has to be colourful, especially in Rajasthan. Interesting is the big drum which the mother I guess holds. The wall, true to Jodphur's reputation as the blue city is blue. Good composition. Well done

Oh I am SOOO envious!
Out of all the cities and villages in India, Jodhpur is my favorite, and I'll have my camera in hand all the time!!
We often don't see alot of color in these photos from Jodhpur, but i certainly welcome it as it comes alive.
Very cool to see the large drum too! its a wow for me

Ciao e buona serata

Red and yellow saris for sale in the Blue City. The Indians must be world champions of combining colours for a maximum effect and you have composed this very well. The big drum is an unexpected but superb detail. The light is beautifully handled and the sharpness is perfect. The three persons are very nicely seated between the two lines of bright cloths.
kato (11630) 2013-06-12 23:32
You're capturing well this scene by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see roadside stand selling colorful textiles and cloth on road. It's interesting that these are all bright primary colors. And, it harmpnizes well with blue wall of backdrop. It is worrisome that the small child is working at here.
papagolf21 (95407) 2013-06-13 0:45
Les couleurs claquent comme un coup de fouet !

fantastic street scene! I like very much the colors. So well saturated and eye catching! It seems almost surreal. Interesting that the woman has the drum while selling her products. Is it to attract attention or for a prayer?
mirosu (15972) 2013-06-16 0:17
