This is just a quick hip snap, a simple street scene taken in Pink City of Jaipur on a bright afternoon but full of colors and lively energetic feel caught my attenton. To me it's a meaningful travel record shot and probably subtle art, an absolutely essential to getting the most out of the few shared moments on the street in a foreign land of different culture, peoples and way of life.
I truly enjoy shooting without looking at the view finder when walking past people with camera preset held at hip level coz, I often get a much more interesting perspective and the quirky angle, while keeping my eyes locked forward and preventing making eye contact with my targets and this way I am nearly invisible to those around me.
I love the angle and the fact that it all looks very everyday natural, but half the joy is seeing what I have captured through sheer accident - this big size intruder just popped up suddenly looking into my lens when shutter was released. But I truly enjoy watching people, observe and not only capturing the brief snapshot of their lives but also I get a great point of view which gives me a tremendous gift as it happens before my eyes.
So don't hop when you shoot from the hip...

I understand good what you wanted to achieved and to convey with this one.For me it is also important to photograph undisturbed daily-life of each city I visit(without the people even realize I take a picture of them-so the effect is more natural).
I enjoy also very much this quite low perspective "from the hip" in combination with a slightly tilted perspective, which adds the image additional touch of unaffectedness and reality.
Beautiful and creative way of looking at the surrounding reality!
Have a nice weekend

As always, a great street image, the two ladies in the lower left create a really nice shot, and the angle that you took this from has made a very interesting scene. I would love so much to see this famous city!
Since I first learned of how you do some of these shots so subtly, I have tried a few times myself in Dublin, but I can never get the clarity you always achieve, there is always too much movement and too much blurring. Until I improve, at least I can enjoy your fine shots instead :)
All the best

I admire this street photo. It is well composed and quite sharp. Also the light management is very good.

a great daily life picture, your trust in this kind of photography and in luck gave a most rewarding result. Things you had considered before (like the setting), things you expected to happen (the girls' steady and proud crossing the frame) and things that just happened unexpectedly (the mysterious man that suddenly entered the frame looking puzzled at you too). The interaction of all these factors is marvellous, they have rendered a pleasing image and created a spontaneous story making you part of it. I also like very much the combination of warm colours, greys and shadows. I can feel the fun:) Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

Hello Abmdsudi - you say you enjoy shooting from the hip like this, but I don't recall seeing a similar shot in your gallery, at least not while I've been posting here, so it's good to see this side of your photography as well. These shots can be really tricky; I've experimented with it myself, but never with much success. You've achieved success well here, with the two brightly dressed ladies emerging from shadow, and the looming figure at right still encased in it, all against a vivid backdrop. Thanks!

Dobar tekst ...
Lep pogled i trenutak.
Dobar trenutak snimka, kontrast, lepe boje.

Imajte lep dan za odmor, sve najbolje.
Good text ...
Nice view and the moment.
A good time recording, contrast, beautiful colors.
The Lord looks at the cameraman, ladies go their own way, that's life.
Have a great rest day, all the best.

nella splendida Jaipur hai colto questo scatto composto in maniera alquanto originale ma efficace.
I colori sono al meglioe i due personaggi sono molto caratteristici. Efficace anche lo sfondo monumentale che dispiega tutta la sua bellezza.
Ciao e buona domenica

Hi dear Abmdsudi
I love shooting from the hip and knowing how difficult it can be to firstly get the exposure right and secondly get an interesting, sharp and compelling photo, I really appreciate this photo. Superb angle, great artistry and wonderful dynamism. Have you seen the work of Designsoul here on TE? She hasn't been on TE for ages but her "shooting from the hip" photos inspired me.

Isen't shooting from the hip an art form in itself, widely discussed in many photographic forum? It is a technique that is not as simple as it looks and to master it, one needs passion and time.
In Jaipur it is simply impossible to take pictures without any people strolling trough your frame. It is such a lively place, full of people, noise and smells. I truly loved just walking the streets there and soaking it all up.
You show us here a fine example of the shooting from the hip technique with the two ladies in good focus and well illuminated, while the prominent man is unrecogniseable and therefore not at all disturbing the scene.
have a good sunday

Awesome capture even without looking through the viewfinder, and I agree, a candid random shots sometimes is a better way of experiencing a culture or how people go about their daily life. Great technical quality and wonderful colors. Very well done, tfs.

Abmdsudi, nice capture of the two women, clearly intent on going somewhere. The background building is quite beautiful. I like your choice not to level the background, to continue the candid and from the hip nature of the shot.

You're capturing well this snapshot by a good timing and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see the Pink City with pink wall and women wearing the traditional clothes. It looks like an interesting design for wall. And, it's good at the color contrast between pink and blue. It's very difficult to take a photo of quick snapshop for me, although unpredictability is there.

Congratulations for you to try new techniques which give some good results and new vision of the world. Very good framing with the shadow man and the 2 ladies walking in the sunny area. The tilt, not forecast gives some more dynamism to the scene.

I tried this technique for some pics during my latest trip...sometimes it works, sometimes doesn;t. Here it works fairly well, even though I might have wished the man in half silhouette not being there...only the two ladies and the Hawa mahal BG.
Interesting that you are now churning 5 year old pics of India & sharing the beauties with us!
