Entry gate to Junagarh Fort in the city of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. The fort was originally called Chintamani and was renamed Junagarh or "Old Fort" in the early 20th century when the ruling family moved to Lalgarh Palace outside the fort limits. It is one of the few major forts in Rajasthan which is not built on a hilltop.
The fort complex construction commenced in 1589 and was completed in 1594. It was built outside the original fort of the city, about 1.5 km from the city centre.
The massive fort built in the plains of Bikaner has a rectangular layout with a peripheral length of 986 m. The fort walls are 4.4 m wide and 12 m in height. It encompasses an area of 52,800 m2. It was surrounded by a moat which was 6.1–7.6 m deep with a base width of 4.6 m and top width of 9.1 m. However, the moat no longer exists.
Historical records reveal that despite the repeated attacks by enemies to capture the fort, it was not taken, except for a lone one-day occupation by Kamran Mirza. Kamran was the second son of the Mughal Emperor Babur who attacked Bikaner in 1534, which was then ruled by Rao Jait Singh. In the battle, the Mughals were defeated by Rathors. Kamran then returned to Lahore.
The fort precinct is studded with palaces, temples and pavilions. These buildings depict a composite culture, manifest in the mix of architectural styles.

The arch in shadow makes an excellent frame for the ochre coloured walls of the fort; the steps invite the viewer to step in and explore further. Superb saturated colours and good rendering of the architectural detail.

Excellent framing with the fort gate to show us this lovely colourful wall from Junagarh. A very symmetric and balanced composition. Love the contrast between the dark and colourless FG with the well lit brightly coloured fort wall. Thanks for sharing a fine photo.

Hello Miro - I like the limited colour palette here, a variety of tones, light and shade add to the visual appeal of your simple but well managed composition.

You're capturing well thid architecture by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the historical fort with tasteful gate and trf wall. Some windows are arranged well a good position and have a tasteful design. And, white widow frame draws out a good impact in the point of the entire color balance.

Yet another beautiful vioew through an arch, Miro.
The pink/red/brown tone of the house across made this sight charming.
Light managed superbly, and so did with the clarity.
Have a nice new week,

a lovely, graphical and atmospheric presentation of this austere and imposing gate, an interesting glimpse into the simple and mysterious courtyard. I like very much the chromatic harmony, the effective contrast and the fine play of light. There's a great combination of suggestion, mystery and warm tones that makes this view very inviting. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

The third in a series of similar composition. It's a good way of framing an interesting view, in this case a pink wall with some fine windows of different kinds.

It's very nice by using the arched doorway as a frame. The small windows are great additions. I really like the vivid pinkish color. It's a beautiful picture.

We have the fascinating well preserved historical architectural features here and you have captured the entrance gate really well full of detail and the striking red stonework as a whole when the subtle warm light nicely filtering through giving wonderful tones, shades and shadows. Of course the beautiful small windows grab attention, and the structure that stands the test of times, past times and present. Quality shouts at you, Congrats.

Salut cher Miro
A beautifully composed shot, with excellent rich colours and plays of light and shade. The rich orange colours tell us we are somewhere exotic and I can almost feel the heat and smell the aromas of this characteristic city.
Thanks for sharing, bonne amities
