Bhainsrorgarh or Bhainsror is an ancient fort, located 50 Km from Kota & the journey along the road takes 1 hour. Bhainsrorgarh was an impregnable fort, inhabited from at least the 2nd century BC. The palace inside the fort (part of which you can see in the centre on the other bank) is around 260 years old and was built around 1750 & It crowns a 200 ft rocky ridge overlooking the River Chambal. The palace has now been converted into a 5 bed room luxury hotel .
Bhainsrorgarh has become a major tourist spot in the state of Rajasthan, India. The famous British historian Colonel James Tod said, after seeing the splendid and mesmerizing beauty of Bhainsrorgarh, that if he was offered a Jagir (fiefdom) and given an option to choose it anywhere in Rajasthan, he would choose Bhainsrorgarh.
Once the boat was the only means of transport from this bank of River Chambal to the fort & palace. Now of course there’s a bridge which spans the river. The boat is moored to the bank most of the day, except when an occasional tourist wishes for a ride on the tranquil river. If that is not enough, one can enjoy barbequed fish while boating in the river. Anglers catch the fish in the river and roast it in one boat and then passing it to tourists seated in another boat floating beside. Those interested in angling can do it themselves also. There is another attraction while boating. The patch of Chambal that flows beside the fort-palace is a gharial (crocodile) sanctuary and there are plenty of gharials that one can see while boating. This lone boat summed up the tranquility of the place and I also liked the play of the low light and shadows in the boat.

Very nice mirror effect you succeeded to catch.
Moreover you have a nice composition with the boat in foreground and a contrast of color with the blue of the water and sky and the gold on the cliff.

You are the only TrekEarth's representative to show us images from Bhainsrorgarh.
A very calm and peaceful setting that fully deserves its title. I'm not pretending to know India in any possible way - I only scratch the surface - but it appears to be a rare landscape from your country. Excellent use of the boat for building up your composition with the inclusion of a bold foreground.

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The boat lead my eyes toward the cliff and the village which is giving depth to the photo. The morning light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. have a nice day.

Interesting foreground with the boat, the perspective guide the glance to the fort
I see a scratch in the sky, I hope you don't have a problem with your camera sensor
I made a try to mask it in my WS

An impressive river, slowly floating through the frame!
I'm not used to fine reflections like this in a river, and the fort on the cliff seems to control the traffic on the waterway...
The boat in front creates fine depth in the frame, an attractive colour palette!
Graal (102446) 2009-12-10 0:15
fine composition, nice landscape and reflections in BG. Good note and well done photo. I like it.
Longroute (19396) 2009-12-10 0:35
this is my favourite genre of subject: boats and water (actually I'm a salty dog). And I do appreciate a lot your fine composition. The stillness of the river is amazing and the reflections on it are a wonderful view. This high cliff with the greenery and the houses on top is the ideal background for this large river and enhances its majesty. The boat in fg, beside being an interesting focal point, gives a good depth to the image.
An excellent work!
I didn't know that in Rajastan there were such great rivers! I thought the whole region was semi-desertic.

J'aime cette photo pour sa composition et pour la clarté des couleurs. Du très beau travail !
anindya2u (287) 2009-12-10 10:23
The title of the image has rightly justified the composition.
Yeah its on a profound level of tranquility. Excellent exposure, reflected image of the golden cliff and a solitary boat placed in a perfect position on the frame.
The use of circular polariser has really chucked off all the extra lights and added more depth to the colour in the frame which is more appealing.
Good show !!!
emjleclercq (15780) 2009-12-10 13:26
Beautifull blue color, and good reflexion. I also like the small wooden boat, even if it looks like a rather basic construction.
All the best,

Perfect reflections, a perfectly situated boat. A picture of total calm and relaxation.

Pozdrav dalekoj zemlji i vama.
Fotografijom i tekstom prikazali ste nam ovo lepo mesto, pravi trenutak snima, boje i reflex u vodi. Svidja mi se kompozicija, dobar rad.
Sve najbolje, lep dan, Paja.

I just realise how funny it is, how some photographers, like you and aadilj, can show us a country which is one of the most populated of the world, as if it was almost empty. It's not only a challenge or an achievement; it's also a great paradoxe, one of the numerous paradoxes that we find in India. Like a flute solo between two large pieces of music with percussions at a wild rhythm. A serene tune in the middle of the agitation. Your picture makes no exception. I see it as an oasis of peace. Excellent composition, with the rowboat in front and the dreamy mood with the vivid reflections on the water in the background. The colors are beautiful and the contrasts, just perfect. Excellent work!

A fitting title for this lovely scene... nice quiet water, reflections, light and colors look real fine. The boat adds interest to the foreground.
josepmarin (58343) 2009-12-13 3:57
Your composition is very elegant and harmonic, with a perfect organization of the elements in the framing.
I like the boat in FG and the fantastic reflections of the fort and the cliff on the water.
The colors and the light are splendid.
An excellent work, my friend.
batalay (38541) 2009-12-13 18:31
Hello Mr. B,
The mirror like surface of the water reflects the cliffs and fortress/hotel so perfectly that you've managed to photos for the price of one. The row boat of course breaks the symmetry, adding a strong focal point. The image I see is from the autumn of 2008 when you moved down to Mumbai.
Warm regards and have a good week,
DRAKOLIMNH (1224) 2009-12-14 8:01
Great frame with nice reflections and the boat is great for the position it is,well done
Waylim (25502) 2009-12-14 9:53
Hard to believe this is a river, it is so calm with no movement. Most of the time it is a lake that is this calm. Must be taken on a dry season where it has not rain in awhile which explain the clean and clear water. the reflection sure is fantastic. the roll boat in the front adds tremendous depth to the image. Beautiful color and good composition. Is there a power line from the left to the hotel?
patdeph (35748) 2009-12-15 10:01
I can understand why its becoming touristic, the place is splendid, and the purity of the colors and the reflection superbly enhances its beauty!Magnificent!
