Photographer’s Note
Inside the Amber fort.
He probably never realized that... but for me and accordingly to his shadow, he was riding on a camel...
The devil is the details, they say.

Or a hobby horse........nice light Luko, and for someone who loves textured walls and backgrounds, you dont have to look far in India do you, its all crumbling.

Salut Luko

Luko: interesting play on light, which is your modus operandi here on this site. Even without the shadow trickery, the textures and limited color palette make this shot appealing. regards, c

For me his shadow is holding a very large revolver. I guess the devil really is in the details.
That aside, this is a very good photo. A text book example of excellent lighting and the use of leading lines, with the shadows of the railings leading us right to the feet of the soldier. I find the texture of the wall to be very appealing, as well as all the geometric shapes.

Ooh love those shadows and those cracks on the wall with the simple colours all complimenting each other perfectly.
How do you find the 24-105L on the 400D? I think you advised against me getting it on the 30D with the 1.6x crop, but personally I find it to be a perfect range.

Even without the clever "camel" reference, this is a very good shot, Luko. The man is part of the red fort, baked into the wall so to speak, his hands in a kind of rayer..or greeting.
Nice!

Well captured, well seen! And funny title, nice note!!
Note title and picture are only one thing, also if the photo is a very good one also without any word!
I remember Fort Amber and all those soldiers watching it...

hey
very nice picture: beautiful colours and very nice composition, but I especially like the title (I thought you meant his shadow is like someone who is holding a gun...)
cheers, jan

Hi Luko, a strong graphic impact with the game of shadows in this image, and the texture of the old wall..
But here i like also the colour tone of the image.
Amazing work!
ciao!

I see no camel here, but I do see the gun... I guess Indian security guys trick tourists with the shadow number and so did you. Clever use of shadows here. Great composition, good deep blacks (full of personality) and perfect placement of the main elements. Nothing to complain about these really warm colors. Nice shot.

Nice colors and cool shadows here. Strangely, one of my favorite aspects to this one is how the shadow of his hand looks on the wall. His face seems just a little soft, but that could be simply because it is small in the frame. I think I have a shot or two of this guy from March.

an unarmed man with a shadow for a gun... that's how it looks to me. i don't see a camel. it's just like those 3D pictures, i never see them either!
the cracked mud wall has some great detail. i like the contrast between the chaotic cracks and the straight lines of the shadow. the man is just an added bonus for me. something to learn here for sure. thanks

For me theres no camel but a big gun. Actually somebody alsready said that but uts true. Looks like a study in the subconscious, you know,a friendly chap on the outside, Dirty harry with his cannon on the inside. Just be careful who you meet. Overall a very nice, "simple" composition that isnt so simple on 2nd glance.

Bonjour Luko
Mo'ils satisfont les divers tons marron de cette photo. Le détail des lignes cassées dans la paroi, le maniement de la lumière et la position du sujet dans le tableau, rendent une composition excellente.

Perfectly observed :-)... the warm and side-ways lighting did a lot for uncovering the textures of the wall, nice contrast between that age-old architecture and the human, quite defiant-looking, figure.
