Photographer’s Note
continuing at the Haji Ali - Mumbai.
My visual memory isnt that strong as i was too engaged and avoiding the lashing waves..but it looked like a painful effort of this old and infirm man who shrouded himself in white sheet...slow as he was..sole intention to make it to the shrine and offer prayers..
.
.
.
Am not sure i can convince or convey but there is a reason why i shot this and feel strongly about the frame..the moment..which is why i am sharing it with you...what is it..?

powerful image, Sayeed, I can easily see why you wanted to capture the scene and why you opted for such pp, the strong contrasts and grain emphasise the feeling of discomfort and stoic tolerance. the way you have created the image shows that you were also standing in the line, you were one of them, I find it adds to the power of the shot, to the sense of presence also for the viewer. I really really like this.
best,
Kristine

the power of your composition is speaking of a story. ...of devotion? of standing men or a creeping man? slowly proceeding for the sake of a belief? the moment of "waiting" or "longing" is carefully given by your vision. i am with it (though i cannot still persuade myself for liking the "pinkish" tint, rather than a sepia or pure b&w. it is maybe my pc screen)

Hello Sayeed,
I like your 'stairway to heaven' landscape pictures, but it's your haji series (quite something else!) that really steal my heart here. This 'Final Destination' is another really great one. Excellent contrast work, very powerful and with a story to tell.

Namaste Sayeed,
The quality of the image is a bit weak, the message and inpiration is loud and clear. We all have adversity to overcome, for him is much more.
Strong visual effect with the pp work done here. thanks for sharing and the effort.

Sayeed,
no, this one really does not fly for me.
I can read your note and understand that this moment was really something for you.
I can see how you composed it. how you isolated that man on the right. The only one in bright white. I can see the long row of people, all with the same destination. The rain/waves, the man smiling, the sea...I understand your artistic approach to emphasize the discomfort, your partial memory. The story is all there, in the frame, no doubt about it.
But it does not work for me. I'm not a fan of the pp. I'm afraid it would not stand on its own if you had left if straight out of the camera.
see you my friend,
Marc

Dear Sayeed (or Syd)
Faith...a powerful healer; faith, the eternal optimism, faith, what goes beyond science...quite a powerful picture, though I might prefer this in stark b&w. You're or were in Mumbai for a while or are you here now?

Namaste Sayeed,
for me it works! It's almost like a stylish logo or a pop art. Love the way the strong contrast enhances the silhouettes of the persons. My favorite part is the halo on the first guy jeans. I'm getting into something discomfort seeing this but I like it :)) Lovely one, buddy!
Regards,
Carlos
