Photographer’s Note
Continuing at the Haji Ali dargah in Mumabai,India.
Legend has it.....
Kids often "occupy" the walkway.. the strip of land.. like a jetty leading to the tomb in the Arabian Sea.
Hope you are having a good week...
cheers.
[ i really should have taken the workshop photo at 1/10 or less..the effect would have been stronger..as the child was motionless and the rush around him would have given a stronger visual appeal in sense of depth and movement...head doesn't work all the time :( x
what do u think ?

I like this one for the use of b&w well adapted to the situation, the focus on the boy sitten on the sidewalk and naturally framed by the man walking, almost about to pass and erase our view
well done

sitting on mud, surrounded by the hurries of life, waiting for something to happen... i sometimes feel likely so... is it maybe a pacifist reaction?
thanks for the comprehensive WS photo. now your original post makes much sense.

Hi Sayeed ------------------------>
I like much when an image tells me a history,
this image of the child sat in the soil waiting: what? ....
perhaps a good future, perhaps luck in the life,
perhaps a hand that teaches him the way.
Congratulations for this photo in B/N with message.
Un saludo.

Ciao Sayed,
a good B&W, to tell this history, I like the sense of movement servant, the photo it is very melancholy, the child that asks the alms and the world that it races without holding it in consideration,
the ws complete this beautiful job

I'll make it three for the day;-)
(I just couldn't decide which Haji shot I liked best, maybe - in fact - it is this one.)

This is MUCH better.
The story is all written inside the frame. The rain, the boy, the coins between his fingers, the man passing by, indifferent. Very very good.
I get the feeling that you try to really go far in the contrasts. You really want to be edgy and get deep blacks and clipped whites. However, I find that you overdo it a bit. I'd be curious to see the original. I own a D300 as well, and at this iso and in pattern metering, there is no way that you get that much clipping and that much blacks...You are losing not just details, but mood. It was working well in the beach shot, but not here.
it still deserves bright green;)
see you,
Marc

Dear Sayeed,
Your photo moves me inside and makes me stop for a moment to think some things over.
Thanks for that
Take care,
Joanna
