Photographer’s Note
the matriarch of the kana family in hodka village, some 70 kms from bhuj, kutch district, gujarat.
we spoke different languages, but the simple act of sharing tea made us understand each other in a way deeper than words.
(hodka is a tribal settlement at the edge of the inhospitable but impressive rann of kachchh, occupied by the muslim halepotra and the hindu meghwal communities, each famous for their unique and enchanting handicrafts)

Not so many posts of the tribes around Bhuj, i could not miss this one ! i was too in these villages as well as to the salt pans in the little Rann of Kutch and I will not forget these days and people for quite some time
this image is a strong one, we see a whole life in this woman's gaze. Just too bad you have this wooden post just behind her head
