A small town just 8 km southeast of Bhuj, Bhujodi is a major textile center of Kutch, with the vast majority of the 1200 inhabitants involved in textile handicraft production. Here one can meet weavers, tie-dye artists and block printers, most of whom belong to the Vankar community. Living in a time preset on fast-forward, to move slowly and steadily is to be left behind. In the craft cluster of Bhujodi, home to 200 weavers, it’s as though time stands still.
But no, this picture is not about the weavers or their houses adorned by nice paintings on the outer wall. It is about the boy who stood watching us, maybe a bit surprised, curious or maybe baffled...till I noticed his pants :-).
He seemed to say, silently "Don't look at me like that"..!!!

Hello Angshu - A poignant shot of this little boy, he looks so uncomfortable and I would love to pick him up and say it's OK. Beautifully composed shot with excellent local colours and designs which make a fine backcloth for the child. Warm regards Rosemary

This is a Beauty... Excellent Composition...The coyness of the child is well expressed. The backdrop is amazing. The wall paintings of rural Gujrat is uniquely brought out. The sharpness and clarity enhances the mood of the photograph. The shadow of the corrugated roof adds to the composition of the picture. And let me add - "Wet Pants" as a title to the picture is perhaps an expression of the childlike innocence that is so very pervading in this picture.
Thanks for sharing, Angshuman.

Bonjour, cher Angshu,

The presence of the child is adding life to the scene. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the door and of the window. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Kielia (24077) 2013-10-23 5:04
the poor boy doesn't seem comfortable - and how could he with wet trousers? You have captured the situation very well thus presenting a soul touching daily life shot. Like Rosemary I would like to pick him up and change trousers.
The natural colors and the beautiful light make the image very attractive. My compliments!

Hello my friend, i just love your image here. The level of details is just amazing, good quality on the shot. Amazing colors as well. The boy seems to be painted on the wall too. Good take.
holmertz (59142) 2013-10-23 10:22
Poor kid, no doubt he looks uncomfortable. I haven't been in his situation for very many years but I still have some memories of the discomfort and embarrassement. So I would tell him not to worry, it could happen to anyone. Besides, he should be pleased at living in such a beautifully painted house. It's really adorable and your composition is superb. The inclusion of the boy and the bike makes us understand that this is not a museum but a very ordinary place where people live.
I don't know if Gujarat nowadays has become part of the great tourist track. When I toured the state in 1985 it was remarkably overlooked. It had so much to offer and so few visitors.

this has everything: colors, lines, a human character, all placed harmoniously within the frame. A total hit for me!

You do well to specify in your notes because I had not noticed any reason why this boy seemed a little grumpy. Very nice photo with well saturated colors. Framing and sharpness are excellent. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.

Kamilutka (8107) 2013-10-24 0:35
this is charming image and my congratulations on this beautiful composition. The background is so colorful and interesting in itself, but the little boy and his facial expression are priceless. Great colors and contrast. Well given sharpness.
Thanks for sharing

Ciao e buona giornata

Good title for a charming capture plenty of color ( superb blue one)and the little boy looking at you in so nice and uncomfortable way
Hope you talk to him after the photo
abmdsudi (57720) 2013-10-24 23:32
You have found interesting subjects composed so well in the frame; the aged looking doors, rustic wall and its design and the lovely vintage bike are in good balance carry enough interest to make it an effective photograph as it conveys the local falvour and mix of cultures very subtly. The curious boy intensifes the composition. Good details and an interesting piece of work in vibrant colours. The clarity under shade is second to none. A superbly capture and thks for sharing, Congrats
gervaso (16703) 2013-10-25 3:19
Very nice capture of the architectural details of the house, with the plus of the curious look of the boy with the bike! Very good light and colors! Excellent composition! Beautiful job!

Hello Hang Shoe!
I just saw your new photo on your intro page; were you having a mustache when I have met you in Delhi??? You, you, my fearless Rajput warrior... :-p))
I have a personal attraction for this kind of composition, with a subject in its environment with many details to look at, while remaining simple and with limited layers, ideally only one plan. There's a nice harmony in terms of colours and richness in the numerous textures.
An embarrassing moment that would have made me uncomfortable to photograph, as a foreigner and because it is a children. But your photo inspires me to publish my own version of a taxi driver from Kolkata pissing in public... Soon to be posted... :-p))
Have a nice weekend my friend!!!
subhendu_bagchi (26089) 2013-10-29 3:24
dear dada, another very well composed shot here in your galley. Nice details obtained from the shadowed portion but which I like most in this frame is the boy's expression wearing wet pant. Nice artwork in the wall with the cycle on it are complimenting a nice frame. Excellent moment captured. Tfs.
ChrisJ (117855) 2013-10-29 8:33
The blue and white colors go well together here and I like the stylised tree drawn on the back wall. Yes the boys facial expression is less than friendly! Good sharpness and excellent density and saturation. Tfs!
baclama (18896) 2013-10-29 8:40
Waylim (25436) 2013-10-30 16:32
You must have scare him so much he pee his pants :) Just kidding. He seem to be at that age of transitioning. Or maybe that is just an accident. Anyway. A good combination showing the houses and the colorful painting adorned the wall and a daily life image. Good control of the light and shadow. Not an easy shot with such strong contrast. You manage the detail very nicely in the shadow. I love it.
It is so real and full of nostalgic quality.
npecanhuk (78549) 2013-10-31 4:40
I specially enjoyed the composition and colors, but sharpness, exposure, horizontal format and black & white borders are all excellent photo qualities here too!
TFS - congrats,

Surely not the best moment for the boy, but it's a nice photo - I like the way he holds the big bike as he looks at you and also the decoration of the house. I like Kutch a lot! A very good composition!
rigoletto (34279) 2013-11-02 12:43
lovely "wall-front" photography. how charming details in there! i like your luminocity settings, showing all the architectural beauties which would be hidden in shades otherwise. looks like such a different place, not the usual stuff we came to see here on TE. sorry for the boy's pants but he seems to be posing proudly to you, saying "look what i've done" instead of a blushy body language.
josepmarin (58359) 2013-11-03 3:59
Namaste, my friend Angshuman,
I have lost this one.
The traditional simple architecture of this house, with its splendid paintings, do not hide the real topic of your composition, this boy watching the photographer, with a huge bike at his side and the small problema on his pants.
A vital and beautiful composition.
fabbs99 (17179) 2013-11-09 23:04
Beautiful shot with lovely colors. You have a great gallery and it is great that you have reached the first page of most popular members on TE.Very well done and congrats.

Oh man...i just couldn't resist this photo my friend!
its a doozy!
oh no...poor little guy! he peed his pants? what did you do to him!? lol maybe it was like that before? maybe its something else?
anyways...as for the photo itself, there are SO many interesting elements. Just look at that door on the left with its amazing handcrafted workmanship.
and of course the colors are outstanding.
So real, so memorable.
