Selling bracelets and more Photo

Photographer’s Note

A lady selling bracelets, handkerchiefs and what else in a street of Ahmedabad, the major city of Gujarat state.
Ahmedabad is a huge and very crowded city. Since it receives comparatively few foreign visitors, every tourist is bound to catch the attention of a lot of people. This makes it hard to take photos of people discreetly, because someone will always shout: "Hey, he's taking your picture!" So the only way to get close to someone with my camera was to ask for permission. This turned out to be an advantage I hadn't counted on, because people standing nearby would eagerly assist me by keeping the curious crowds away, making sure nobody else stuck his head into the picture.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hello Gert,

Very good composition and the colours go well with each other... Looks like the lady is posing for the photo with such dignity and simplicity at the same time.
The only minor sad thing is that the lady's eyes are in the shade :(

PS. you really are very good at taking portraits. I think I'll soon start making a special collection of the photo-portraits taken by you ;-) no kidding :)
at least while looking at such photos I learnt something else about photography.

She is really modeling for you, this is a very fine portrait. I wish she´d been able to see it herself!
I believe she would have liked it! At least I like it.

Hej Gert,

I bumped into this one...the hodgepodge of stuff can be traded for a few kilos of rice and daal and a roof over the head...yet we are unhappy without a six figure salary and a flashy car...humbling absolutely humbling. Its a great shot with beautiful colors and a very good composition.
