Photographer’s Note
How many times when I was young reading a book (about travels of course) I dreamed of the flavours of the spicies, the salty ocean’s breeze, palm trees against the sky and an open horizon in front…
In my travels in Asian and African countries I meet sometimes people who comes out from my memories, straight from my childhood books.
This fisherman of Benaulim is one of them…
-.-
“I am called Sindbad the sailor, bacause of the many voyages I have made upon the sea. Those strange things which I have seen would serve as a lesson for the attentive reader even were they written with a needle upon the corner of an eye”.
From the “Tales of One Thousand and One Nights”

ciao luca,

Hi, Luca. a very good portrait. The man's harsh features match very well the description you give of Sindbad. His muscles show the hard work he has to accomplish. A very good DOF makes him stand out against the background.
Have a nice evening,
Philippe

Ciao luca
at first glance I thought it was another picture of a wrestler, given his massive chest!
Quite a good light here and perfect DOF so that he stands out well on the BG
Best regards

Hi Luca, the wide apperture you chose worked well, creating an attractive bokeh in the BG. Surprising that you retained focus on his face from his nose back to his ears. Great texure and detail in his turban. cheers, Steve

Hello Luca,
Another beautiful portrait!! The light is wonderful, the way it is falling over his face and making some shades. The whole compo slightly off center and the background blur. Very nice.
And a nice quote as well :-).

Hi Luca,
My Sindbad is a bit younger and more handsome perhaps a stupid reflection of ready-made Holyywood images. ;-))). I must say yours is better. Wonderful light management and well caught expression as always.
Best,
Petek

hello Luca,
certainly he looks a character from some adventurous tales.Your portarait captures an essence of the foreign, the different. The light is perfect to show of his skin tone and the DOF produces an attractive bokeh.

I thought at first that he was the opponent of the wrestler, but I assume this is just a good diet of fish and hard work. A well taken portrait Luca.
