Palolem is a beautiful beach in the southern part of Goa on the western coast of India. It has a laid-back feel to it with several shacks lining the beach. A short walk from the beach and a scramble over some rocks provide great views of this perfectly curved beach and its myriad green coconut trees. The thickly forested Western Ghats form a mountainous backdrop. The warm waters are shallow enough to reassure you a timid traveller yet deep enough for a comfortable swim making it a perfect destination for anyone looking for a relaxed holiday. In the evening, the colourful lights of the shacks reflect in the water creating a rainbow effect while all the bars and restaurants get busy with music and live concerts. If Palolem is too crowded for you, then Agonda is a great alternative just a cycle ride away across the hill to the next beach (if you're fit!).
