A sunny sunday..., a photo from Goa, West

Photographer's Note

On a motorbike daytrip around Goa, we eventually found ourselves in the Village of Merces, some 5 km east of the state capital, Panjim.
It was a sunday, and at the village church there was a "first communion" going on, so we stopped to take some pictures of the event!

Lors d'une ballade à moto, nous nous sommes trouvés dans le village de Merces, à environ 5 km à l'est de la capitale de Goa, Panjim.

C'était un Dimanche et l'église du village était pleine de monde... les locaux nous ont dit qu'il y avait une première communion...

Hello Laurent - I really like this shot. The white walls with their textures, forms and areas of light and shade frame the two females very nicely and add a little context to the shot. Mother and daughter are both dressed for church and it's interesting to see the difference in dress; funny how they mimic each other's arm and hand positions! Warm regards Rosemary

The very strong color of red against a fairly white background really caught my eye and indeed set up this scene stunningly well. Lovely shot and detail with a nice frame within a frame composition. Great lighting, shadow play and is crisp throughout. Brilliant capture as usual, Congrats.

Good textural details in the wall revealed by the fine sidelight. Superb shadow detail and the 2 women in reed and white attire animate the scene. A perfect exposure on the white highlights with good sharpness and punchy light contrasts. Merci!

Hi Laurent,
For me it is the look and stance of the girl in the white dress that makes the shot. Also the sun is directly on her placing more focus there. They are well framed by the archway and the great white stone walls. and I like the contrast between her dress and the traditional sari. nice.

Hello Laurent,

a first communion on a sunny Sunday! What could be better than that? I remember mine; it was on Ascension Day (so it was a Thursday) and there was the usual April-style weather (first dark clouds AND sunny, and then it started raining)

Well, how many different shades of white can be spotted on this photo? The wall itself has countless, together with its shadows even more. The girl´s dress also has countless. Not to forget the hair tie!
The red clothes of the left girl are an eyecatcher too.
