Photographer’s Note
Calangute beach in Goa.
I wondered when I will have the best opportunity to release this photo!
Why Goa & football ?
Goa was under Portuguese 'influence' and thanks to Portugal & French successes in the World Cup 1/4 finals ... therefore the right time for this photo !
This 'dancing soccer' is dedicated to:
- All my portuguese friends I played football & shared good time with when I was kid.
- All my portuguese colleagues
- All portuguese TE members
May the France vs Portugal 1/2 final be full of emotions, good games, friendship and ... 3-2 goals for France ;o)
Note: sorry for our Brazilian friends, that was a fantastic match yesterday ... there will be at least one happy Brazilian guy in the 1/2 final.
Thanks, Alain -

Im sure you've seen the Magnum football series. I think your shot really comes close. There is a fantastic unison in this shot. The light is very good, creating mysterious shadows rising out of the sea and fantastically bathing the man with the ball. And you captured him in a very expressive pose.

Beautifully captured moment Alain with such dramatic light and the wonderful backdrop and texture of sea, sky and sand - poetic. balletic, the beautiful game!

Salut Alain.

Bon diamanche.

Hi Alain,
Great title :O)
Nice scene you have captured here - great depth - great light - great details. Love the view of the ocean and the sky - and not least the man with the ball :O)

hi Alain, this is wonderful, the tonation, the light, but the moment you caught that player is just perfect- he looks like the most graceful ballet dancer.

Splendide travail.
Amicalement,

Alain, this is an excellent contre jour photo, wonderfully framed and captured. I had to read your note to find out what the game is as it's one I don't recognise from England ;-) Great textures, great range and great toning. Stephen

The position of the boy is super and your treatment is brilliantly dramatic.
As for the game, France played really well and deserved to win!

Good morning, Alain. Great work! really dancing soccer! compo is perfect and man pose is just its gem... Dark picture, with a great tones though. Do not support Portugesse after play with England...huh though sport must be more friendly, we should be tolerant...but anyways FRANCE!!!! Go Go Go!!! :)

Salut Alain

Hi Alain,
Very nice capture. Very dynamic shot indeed. I like the tone very much.
Regarding your note, let me mention one point here. You have asked "why Goa and Football?" and You have mentioned that Goa was under Portugese influence. But let me mention here that in this football mad country (remembering the madness over cricket also) of India, Goa is one place from where many footballers come up. Though India is not at all doing good in the international scenario, but Goa and Kolkata are probably the two most important places when football is considered in India. That is why Goa and football are also interrelated!
Best regards,
Sayan

Hi Alain,
thanks for this view showing the more beautiful side of football. The stopped kicker is like a monument to the football game. Indians don't care much about football, I'm glad there's one picture that says otherwise.
take care, Aleks

Hello Al,
I was just discussing about your recent pictures with Sandip this morning. You really are doing excellent in your India series. Your B/W conversions are some great I have seen in recent days. I have seen at least million Indian pictures in past year and you are managed to create a diff style than them all. That is the best part of that I think.
Arindam
This is not for this picture but the whole story you posted in India trip.

Just in time for world cup ehh?
Another nice one Alain, the moment is great with the player just about to kick the ball, however I do feel the composition is a bit unbalanced, the whole right side seems a bit too empty for me, also the other poeple aren't doing anything interesting, with there was more in their action.

hello Alain
pareil splendide !

salut alain,
superb - this high contrast monochromatism works so well here, and the pose, the geometrical figure the man just created - a decisive moment;
really a good work,

Wait, Alain... you say soccer? Isn't it a ballet??? :-) The man kicking the ball is caught in such a graceful pose that it makes one wonder... superb shot. Very beautiful. Love the composition and the horizontal division into two separate planes. Fantastic work, reminds me a bit of turn-of-the-century Constructivists.
Will be back...

Hi Alain, I just commented on a cricket photo from thebeaches of Goa and mentioned perhaps football would be a more appropriate theme for this tiny state. And here I am presented with this wonderful image. This is an excellent capture.

Encore bravo
