The Palace is a series of large and rambling buildings of fine masonry, built partly by the Nayaks around 1550 AD, and partly by the Marathas.
This is the Goodagopuram, a vimana (tower) like building on the southern side of the third quadrangle. It is 190 feet high with eight floors and was the palace watchtower and the armoury of the Tanjore Kings until 1855 A.D.
This shot is dedicatd to my friend, Peter Wall who DOES NOT LIKE SEPIA AND B&W.

Wow, what an amazing looking building, and it's in colour as well, an added bonus. Incredibly intricate stonework, a lot of effort went into this. The high sun does you no favours, but still, you've captured the scale of the building very well. Good sharp image.
A commanding piece of architecture.
