Photographer's Note

Our visit to Srirangam was to visit Sri Ranganatha Temple. Outskirts of Srirangam, one comes across beautiful coconut and banana plantations. The road was very narrow. There was no shoulder to stop the car. The day was quite hot, that ruled out walking. Besides, we were in a hurry to reach the temple before closing. I had to capture this one from the car.

These are the workers in the plantation. Many come from the same family. They are poor people who work for daily wages. They live in a hut where there is no running water. So, they make use of the water here to wash the clothes, take shower and other daily chores.

Nice view about these coconut and banana plantations.
You froze excellent the water out of the pump.

very strong light, beautiful banana coltivation and nice scene of daily life...i know this people work in the plantation have a realy poor salary...but what we can do? nice reportage!!!

Hello Dear Lakshmi!

A coconut and a banana plantation, I have seen a banana plantation once in Central America. Unlike here it was situated deep in the mountains. They were glowing coffee beans under the banana trees. Here the situation seems to be very different the banana plants are still very young, the photo must have been taken early in the season. In spite of a very difficult but active daily life in the field, their vitality is well covered in the photo. The young banana plants give a very effective texture to the image. The irrigation seems to be working well. The presence of the running water gives life to the presented image.

Taken from a car in a hurry - but a beautiful result, show people at work.
