Photographer's Note

On our way to Sholingar to see the famous temples on the hill, we had to pass through this little village. I took this shot from the car as we were already late. You see manual threshing here. Threshing is the loosening of the edible part of a crop from the stalk. It is done after harvesting and before winnowing. Here it is done with paddy stalks. These people can't afford machines and hence do it by hands.
