The hearse or rickshaw for the deceased waiting isolated for next deceived ...
In the background you see a burial of a traffic-victim coming from the hospital, informed me the manager of the graveyard, he won't be cremated but buried in the ground.
Smoke is hanging all around here coming from the other side where poor people prefer to cremate their deceased not having the possibility to afford a tomb. A cremation cost only 500Rps.
The manager gave me the permission to share this particular part of Tamil Culture and to maintain some discretion I used a Tele here all the time.
On the way to the graveyard in the WS.

A very inviting scene (despite the somber circumstances), the various colours and attractive lighting are wonderful highlights. The rickshaw provides a very interesting and classic cultural element to the photo. The smoke haze helps to make the gathering of people fade into the background like a forgotten memory.

light! this light is the killer, henk!
most delicious work here...
interesting that we all know that the best mood is early in the morning when sun pleases us warmly with its rays...and so few photos we "perform" at that time of the day...lucky us you did the job!
best wishes, j.

Hi Henk! A picture that records a scene from the life, the death, but so much discreetly in the remote background of coachman and the first plan your child symbol of continuity of life.. I liked your idea, Greet

What a picture Henk and the story to go with it. I guess the burrial waiting to happen at the background in faded light adds the solemness in the picture. The framing with the leaves binds the picture. It is interesting to note the school boy shying away from the burial scene has added another dimention to the picture. Really great composition.

Colors and contrast are beautifull too.

The light here is divine and the smokey background adds to the atmosphere. Sad but strangely peaceful at the same time.

Hello, Henk -
I thought at first the light was a little too strong, then I saw the group through the haze and realized it had to be this way. A very interesting slice of Indian life!
Happy new year,

A nicely composed picture, Henk (although maybe the boy is a bit close to the edge.) But mostly it's very culturally vivid, with the burial going on in very modest, simple conditions, emphasized by the trailer in the smoky distance. Great DOF for an f/10 telephoto shot. Regards (and Happy New Year), Ken.

waiting isolated for ...
i wonder why the cart is so much isolated from the crowd.
The light and cremation smoke make a mysterious and weird atmosphere, which gave you one of your best light conditions lately. I love it. We see the details of the grave (?) on the left, and i guess, this is bracketting (?).

I've seen the photo, the note and finally the WS.
All of them are very good and we can learn about a world, about a culture and about people who live far from us.
