A great capture of this event from good POV(not always easy considering the amount of people present at these festivals!) Great colours and exposure, funny positions of the tamers and specially the guy on top left corner, i like much the flower petals flying around...
Good documentary picture

WOW, perfectly frozen in time, this type of image is often seen in the National geographic. the color on the bull makes it even more dramatic. The facial expression of the rider on the left is so crisp. Although i adore this image, i can only wonder what it would look like if croped to the bull and 2 riders. ??

your Jalikattu shots always fascinate me. some of the best action shots from these festivals are taken by you. Henk, when are you arriving this time?
thaprem (2554) 2006-11-27 1:23
My inspirations, always your Jallikattu shots...
Most dramatic, action filled & perfect frozen moments.
This is no exception & with a dash of pink, is very exciting.

i really like this piece, i feel like you captured this fleeting instant wonderfully. The composition is strong, with just enough foreground bokeh to give the feeling of being in the crowd, and with the focal conflict matching the geometry of the background very well. i'm kind of stuck on the guy in the background--his facial expression and intense posture as he runs towards the bull is very interesting and pulls into the main interest very well.

prachtige actie foto henk.
U gaat zaterdag er weer naar toe had ik begrepen. Veel plezier in ieder geval. Mooie goede foto trouwens, met de gebruikelijke goede kleuren en het goede camera werk.

Marvelous action capture, Henk! You can actually see the petals flying off the bull, the man hanging with their finger nails...amazing capture! Impressive!

Poor bull... The photo is terrific, so full of action, expressions, colours! Great compo. Why is the bull pink? Interesting.
luisafonso (862) 2006-11-27 4:34
Very good Henk! The colors are amazing here and the sharpness of the scene to die for. Love the action and the way you recorded it. One can really feel the fringe that is going on. The purple cow is so beautiful. Love how you included these out of focus heads on the foreground as it keeps the scene in context and provides an extra layer of depth to the picture. Great shot!
riclopes (35577) 2006-11-27 5:43
Impressive action shots! Any of the three would do excellent posts and the three together contribute to give us a good idea of this event in this festival. Now that I just arrived from my first visit of India, I look at these pictures diferently. The decoration and the festive atmosphere is part of the Indian life, not only of the cows. Among lots of interesting details that can be observed inthis post, I love that guy in the upper left corner of this image. Really impressive work!
partha (14020) 2006-11-27 6:17

Great great shot.

A really impressive action shot, Henk. I particularly like the mix of bravery and caution shown by the spectator at upper left. The whole thing is extremely active and dynamic with all the diagonals. What an amazing cultural spectacle! Regards, Ken.
erdna (5707) 2006-11-27 12:09
You have a terrific point of view to be able to have this kind of shot. This is the best of the three! It shows all the action, the muscles, the dust and dirt and the intrepidness of the young men who dared to enter the challenge. A very well done photo.
prumod (8300) 2006-11-27 12:59

jhm (131736) 2006-11-28 6:43
bhorerpakhi (559) 2006-11-28 7:43
Action photo at its best. Photo info is not there so I wonder what was the Shutter speed and exposure to get everything frozen in this action.
ciec (1081) 2006-11-28 11:13
Erg goed gedaan deze foto vol beweging en toch haarscherp.
scalerman (26900) 2006-11-28 11:24

sayan (2617) 2006-11-29 1:16
A real stunner of a photograph. beautiful dynamic post, great moment and wonderful pov. How did you get the top angle here?
lestans (16904) 2006-11-29 18:48
Dramatic scene, Henk!! How much life, much movement! Well framed so that we can imagine to be there and wathc with other people near.
Interesting and strange legs posture in the man in top left corner.
keribar (43841) 2006-12-05 1:28
You must have dozens of hidden beauties taken at the Jallikatu, I wish I could also manage the Tamil Nadu trip. What I admire the most in these series is that apart the main part with the bull the other characters are also very interesting to watch. Excellent ..
Any fresh news ?
xramm (1831) 2007-01-18 2:09
