I went in to this rice-field, smelling the hay under a blistering sun, watching these women bringing in the rice putting them to haystacks to be threshed later, sometimes they put the hay on the road to be threshed by passing cars and lorries. You always have to take care when you pass with a bike to avoid that the hay would stick in to your chain.
The richness of Tamil Nadu has grown out of the farmer's agriculture of rice, the barn of gold of the South.
The countryside is a delight to bike around, it is so vast and so refreshing to discover the pure hospitality of the hard working farmers.

much different from your "usual" style of staying close to the people, and i think its good to have a different view from time to time, and this workfleid was a perfect occassion for it;
these scattered women in fancy colours look really good in the golden tones of the hay;

this picture is very interesting. I see women in India do a lot of heavy work on a daily basis.
Well taken picture. Light and exposure are perfect. Good colours and sharpness too.

This is a great shot of women being extremely busy with the rice harvest. You can almost feel the heat from looking at the photo. The sky is a magnificent blue which matches many of the women's blue clothing. I love the photo, thank you for sharing.

Beautiful colors and perspective. I like how there's a vast area of hay below the woman showing the scale of the place. Good bright pleasant shot.

Hello Henk, I like much the environment which emerges from this composition, clearness is perfect as well as the soft colors of the straws and of the characters which cohabits perfectly with sky, this image is extremely dynamic, that moves of everywhere, that makes me think of the expression which says to seek a rice grain in a bundle of hay, sincerely

A high quality image showing Indian women at work. Your Note about rice threshing reminds me about the same practice in the Philippines. Gorgeous colors, and good sharpness. Best wishes. Danilo

A picture with a good contrast between the working women in mostly blue clothing against the golden hay. It is a good photo of the women actually doing the work. But why does the men not do it? What do the men do? This is very strange to me.

Great compo, givin so big space to the rice-field. I like its colour and its détail. Undoubtely, these women in blue (mostly) attracts the attention even more, by the color, by the line that they form, by their humanity shown in the different attitudes, its glances. Very nice shot! Thanks.

Hi Henk, I like the dominating part of hay at the bottom part. The workers make a good frame for this photo. The message of barn of gold is really strong.
