The Pongal Festival ( Traditional Tamil Harvest Festival) is a three day long celebration starting on January 14-16 it consists of traditional dance, music, games and even a bull fight. It comes during the sugar cane harvest season. One can see large sugar canes at entrance ways of shops and temples were they are either sold or used for decoration.
This is a picture of a women who is doing a Kumi-Attam a dance performed by clapping the hands with curricular movements to music using traditional drums and pipes.
The colors of the traditional clothes are breathtakingly beautiful and the music joyous with a wonderful beat. PEACE AND HARMONY
