This picture was taken at the Manakula Vinayagar Temple on rue de Orleans, it is popular with devotees seeking divine blessings for new undertakings.
Many french tourist who visit Pondicherry come to this temple to offer prayer and to see the hindu customs.
Between the name of this elephant is 'Lakshmi'.
