Photographer’s Note
Pondycherry is super good, would you doubt of that?
India with french flair, policemen with inspector Clouseau's kepi : can you imagine the mix?
Have to say that for french people, a night stop at Pondy after two weeks around is a heavenly break, going sometimes a few centuries back.
Add on top of that the hotels in old colonial houses, that might be amongst the best in southern India.

Hi Luko
Good dof. The man is very sharp with good detail. Nice spacing between the three and message is clear. Well done.

KILLER SHOT, Luko! This is the ONE, that bloody "Kepi" is so meaningful here, ya know... Man, the French were here and that red kepi is left there like some ironic icon. The bell is strangely moving somehow too. But above all yuo're doing wonders with the magic "3" here, and you timed it sdo all three of your subjects are turning away in the same direction!
A lovely, poetic image. THIS would draw me to India in one second flat... I consider this one of your best - not the most complex or not your most virtuoso performance but get this: one of your most emotionally resonant photos, and that is so important. You nailed this one - it feels...so right.
Good on ya,

The focus on the red cap and cropping of good quality makes your shot attractive. Technically a high notch shot.

Hello Luko,
And Super Good is the picture, like many others I constantly miss many pictures.. I simply cannot find enough time to see them all. We have here three elements, the inspector, the sign et the yound people on the beach. I cannot imagine a picture where they could been placed better.
Friendly regards - Izzet

Interesting note.... and a great composition, great use of DOF!
You make me rememebr this city, so strange, so different! I guess that you shot this pic in the seaside where many people gather to have a walk before evening: a soft enjoyable atmosphera.
Nice work!

I agree with Francis, it is a masterfully composed and very well timed shot with lot of soul. Clean canvas and muted palette make it look like a precisely composed painting. Not a single superfluous element. Not sure about the little dark patch portruding into the frame at the bottom right corner. I usually don't care much about these small details, but I would have preferred if it were not there in this sophisticated picture.

Hi Luko
what a 'triple-portrait'! love that line from left to right and I like the white-ish background, interestingly inscriped with such a phrase. the red hat of the policeman is somewhat incongrous too but adds a nice batch of colour onto this white canvas...well, wish you a super good easter :)
Cheers

Bonsoir Luko,
Amicalement.

Some great depth Luko, and not just because of the bokeh, but the way that the people are staggered back in line. The sign reminds me of something I'd expect to see from Japan.

A fascinating use of perspective, the man's head is turned in a dramatic way, which is the strongest element for me here. Just wish his Clouseau kepi was just a bit clear off the bill board though, otherwise a perfect shot with a terrific color and bokeh.

Bien vu!

L: after weeks in the interior I finally got to Pondy myself. I always refresh myself in these old colonial enclaves (Goa, Diu, Pondy, etc.), but quickly get bored in them; though it's nice to have a pizza there. Now for the image: great bokeh and DOF here, and your wink at Indian English is apropos. Great note. best, c
