This photo doesn't do justice to the beauty of Kumarakom.

Kumarakom is more than 50% water - a very very big lake and backwaters. Very cheap(not in Indian standards) to 5 star house boats are available here. You can cruise through the backwaters surrounded by coconut palms. It's fully green, even the water in the lake and backwaters. Take a walk through the coconut plantations, drink some Kallu/Toddy( white coloured local liqour made from coconut trees) with fried Karimeen(a black coloured fish) and try some Ayurvedic massage with medicinal oils.

I reached here just before the sunset and could spend only about an hour here. Well, I'm planning to go there again, probably for my honeymoon.
