Photographer's Note

In today's post I move from the barren hills of Northern most state (Jammu and Kashmir) of India to the green hills of the Southern most state of my country Kerala.
The above shot is taken at the hill station town of Kerala, Munnar (translated it means Three rivers).

Munnar is situated at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level on the Western Ghats range of mountains. Munnar is well known for its tea plantations. Though not world famous as the Darjeeling Tea, Munnar is believed to produce quality tea. The main occupation of the people are tea cultivation and tourism.
However both tourism and plantation is turning out to be the bane of Munnar, as hotels, resorts and plantations are being built at a rapid pace. This is causing massive deforestation and posing serious threat to the rich flora and fauna of Munnar.
Jungles around Munnar are home to the Nilgiri Ibex ( a wild goat), Sambar, Elephants, Nilgiri rock pigeons, Grizzled giant squirrel, Gaur (indian bison).
