Photographer’s Note
Kovalam lighthouse beach.
Not easy to recieve a sharp image with this wind and the tripod on the wet sand, but at the third day I managed it.
This international beach destination is 16 kilometres away from Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) city, Kerala, India and about 10 kilometers from the international airport. There is still cheap accommodation availlable.I had a very big room with a very very big veranda(no seaview) in less then one minute walking distance to the beach for 500 Rupees = 7,5 Euro = 10 $.

Hi Leo,
Glorious light and excellent timing to get the beam and those great reflections. Those people on the left really add to this image.
Cheers!

Hallo Andreas!

Fantastic picture. The reflections on the wet beach look particularly noteworthy. The time of day makes a huge difference here since it allows us the see the outline of the palm trees. Some parts of the coastal lights look a bit overexposed. Perhaps I would have closed the aperture a bit more as well in order to control the lights somewhat more.

Hallo Andreas,
die Spiegelungen am nassen Sand sehen sehr gut aus, die schwierige Lichtsituation hast du sehr gut in den Griff bekommen... schönes Bild!

Andreas,
excellent colors and reflections. What I like most is the beam coming from the lighthouse dominating the entire scene. That is a real stroke of a genious.

Hi Leo
Great night shot.
I do prefer the right side since it is less agressive in term of light.
Bravo

Guten abend Andreas,
A tripod in the sand, always a risky business ;-)
It's the blue/purple light what i like most here, but also the excellent balance in the composition with that lighthouse. Funny part is that the lights are over-exposed, but the reflection in the water is something that i like to see. The low tide also works pretty good here, just as adding some people inside the frame.

Henk

Les lumières sur la plage semblent très violentes mais on admire les couleurs de l'ensemble et les beaux reflets. Jolie composition

Hi Leo,
very attractive blue hour shot. There are two points that make the compo in my opinion: the lighthouse which is a nice focal point and the reflection of the lights on the sand. They really add a lot to the image. Great shot!

Hi Leo!
Impossible not to recognize Kovalam, even since the thumbnail! I like the contrasts between the dominant blue and the colorful reflections on the wet sand. You managed pretty well with the light. The lighthouse and the curve of the beach remain the same...But wow! The buildings are three times higher than in my memory (last time I was theren it was in 1991) I have avoided to go back there during my last trip in 2007 as well as to Varkala, because I did not want to be disappointed! But you probably enjoyed, specially if you can't compare!

Greetings Leo,
I love the crazy reflections in the water, they look marvelous.
Interesting that the people aren't in silhouette, there must have been a lot of fill light coming from the camera left side of frame.
Great timing on the Lighthouse beam, perfect, and one star shining through, very nice.
Great shot, you have captured a wonderful holiday atmosphere.
Cheers
Peter

Good Andreas,
it's the first time I see a lighthouse in India, and the whole scene seems more Florida than Kerala. But of course it depends on the night conditions, the video gives a completely different impression. The fine light reflections on the wet sand are the strong point of the photo while the lighthouse is a interesting focal point. Above all I like the bright atmosphere, like during a feast.
TFS,
Donato

Leo,
The blue tone, the light is really beautiful, the reflection in the water is also very nice and sparkling. The mood is exotic, the like the contrast between the place where is electricity and where there are natural light. Beautiful composition and the beam of light from the lighthouse is perfect. Thanks
Way
