Photographer’s Note

This is the same Fort Cochin fisherman as in a previous post. I like the action and the ship that appears in the corner of this shot.

I'll copy from the note I posted before: As the sun set over Fort Cochin, I watched this fisherman cast his net into the sea. Each time he'd carefully gather it up, then wade out a few feet, wait for a moment (I don't know what he was waiting for - the right kind of wave??), then toss it out. Then he'd drag it a short distance, before pulling it in again, then gather it carefully together ready for the next throw. It seems a time-consuming way to fish - in the 30 minutes or so that I was watching, he cast his net maybe five or six times.

It occurs to me that this picture might work well in b/w, although I like the warm yellowish tones in the net, reflecting the sun's glow.
