Cochin`s classical Photo

Photographer’s Note

I`m not sure about the title.Is is correct, or must it be Cochin`s classic?
1st of january I arrived in Cochin for the second time after 6 years.
In Fort Cochin not many things changed.More traffic a few more homestays and restaurants,but still a nice colonial atmosphere.
In the evening I searched for a good POV and found this one,but there was a lot mist/dust above the sea and the sun disappeared(left of the trees) before it touched the horizon.No nice colors,and I used a Cokin sunsetfilter.

Great scene, the birds are a great element in the composition. Interesting colours - I wonder how natural they are. Did you use filters? It's (almost?) unreal...
As a title, I'd go for 'Classic Cochin', but that's just my idea.

Hi, Leo. The fishing nets make a very good foreground forcing the eye towards the boats. Their shapes are really elegant. The colours create a good setting sun atmosphere.

Tolles Blickwinkel und wunderbare Compo mit vielen schoenen Details. Die vielen Voegel die auf ihre Beute warten und rımantische Farben.
Sosehr sich auch die Technologie aendert, einiges ist weltweit uniform. Auch hiezulande werden vielerorts (hauptsaechlich an den Flussmuendungen ins Meer) Fische mit einem aehnlichen Verfahren gefangen. Das Problem allerdings dass leider sich sehr viele kleinere Singvoegel sich an diesen Netze verfangen und dann verhungern.

Classique, oui mais à la sauce Leo, ce qui change tout!Jolie compo. On a presque l'impression que les filets sont là pour attraper les oiseaux et non les poissons! Surprenantes couleurs également.

Certainly a great frame with the traditional fishing nets, still used in lakes here in Greece, too. What is really attractive is the unique color and those birds are a ver nice finishing touch to it.

Great shot of Cochin ( now Kochi).Birds Boats and the net are brilliantly captured. The burning sky and the reflections are simply mindblowing. I feel disappointed that I was unable to meet you when you were in my homeland. Hope you have enjoyed the stay in Kerala.Thanks for sharing !

Well Andreas,

you make wonders with composition and tecnique but it must be said that here the most important thing is the atmosphere and feeling. We look at photos to get a glimpse of the emotion one can feel in the real scene, and your picture does it very well.

Hi andreas, indeed, classical shot of the Chinese nets in Cochin, nice evening shot. A lot of birds, probably hoping to catch some fish from the nets. But I observed how the fishermen took up the nest and they were almost empty. spolendid atmospere of the sunset.

Leo,
With your experience and expetise in photography, you can always manage to find a pov and a good composition for wonderful like this one, out of not too much as you may said, but for me that is alot, the mood due to the filter is fantastic, the fishing nets to served as an anchor point to our vision and the activity of the birdsa and the baot adds so much liveliness and all together make a wonderful composition and beautiful image. Back to TE after a long break. So many new beautiful pictures in your gallery during that time. I picked this one. veryclassical indeed but very beautiful with such a great rendering and capture of the 3D space outlined by the net.
