On a recent visit to Guruvayur, I happened to have this opportunity to do night photography. The inner walls of the Temple are covered with tiny lamps stacked one above the other. During the evening Puja, these lamps are painstakingly filled with oil and a new wick is placed in it and lighted.
It is a beautiful sight to see this and the whole ambiance of the place changes. Apart from these tiny lamps adorning the inner Temple walls, there are hundreds of other Lamps within the Sanctum, within the four walls and outside the walls too, what you see here is part of a Lamp that is placed outside the four walls. Will post the other pictures in the coming days.
Unfortunately, all Electronic items are barred within the Temple walls, therefore obviously no Photography either, but I've managed to shoot portions of those inner walls through the doors that are kept open for devotees to enter the Temple. They allow that as long as we don't Photograph the ritual of the Lord's idol being carried on Elephant back within the Temple walls.
The Wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guruvayur_Temple has a photograph of the inner walls lighted with Lamps.
Absolutely no PP done, picture straight out of the camera with just cropping to avoid a light source on the top left.
