Photographer's Note

The temple was built by the Wodeyars in the 17th century, and dedicated to Chamundi (Durga) who slew the evil demon Mahishasura. An immense barrel-vaulted roof tops the gopuram or temple tower, capped by a row of pot finials. These, in turn, are anchored by golden horns bearing a remarkable resemblance to those topping the gaurs of yesterday's upload.
