Photographer's Note
The left panel in this photo depicts one of the most memorable sculptures found on any Hindu temple. Located on the northern face of the Hoysalesvara's northern sanctuary, a crouching and multi-armed Ravana, demon king, shakes Mount Kailasa, abode of the gods and of Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati.
