Inside Tsogyal Shedrub Dargyeling Nunnery.
As a complement to the large monastery, Penor Rinpoche has also established the Tsogyal Shedrub Dargyeling Nunnery, where nearly four hundred nuns study and practice. This is the largest nunnery anywhere for Tibetan women wishing to study the dharma.

Very nice colours for this very well composed picture focused on the nun in the middle between the bowl and the pillar. Congratulations.

The shallow DOF works perfectly here, Arindam, putting our attention right on the nun's penetrating eyes. Then having the object in her hand in the foreground tells us she is doing something culturally interesting (though we can't tell exactly what), and that adds to the spiritual feel of the shot. Very well executed, with a strongly effective result! Regards, Ken.

Great DOF, Arindam. Excellent POV, sharpness and framing, too. Well done.

A very sensitive portrait! The control of the DoF is just right and you have taken advantage to a lovely soft light, modeling the face. I like the way that the hand and the appurtenances divide the frame. It is a pity that you don't tell us anything about what is going on. These tantric ceremonies are complex and interesting and I would love to have had some explanation . Regards Kevin

A fantstic portrait.
Usually an hand in front of the face, such as this could be a big distraction. But in this case it is adding to the feel of the mood.

good work here. good DOF and light, this is a portrait with a twist. cold, soft expressions from the nun is well captured.
Greetimngs from Beijing.
PS: So, you had a great tour there with great pics to share, eh?

a very beauiful portrait! You nailed the focus choosing such a wide aperture and laid it right where it should be - those all powerful eyes - but employing a good double bokeh here.
