Photographer's Note

Flower sellers at Poorna market, Vizag.
Flowers are extensively used in India (more so in the South) for the daily worship or ‘Pooja’ as it is called in Hindi. From what I have seen, flowers with strong frangrances are not used since they evoke the feeling of Shringara (romance). The flowers used for worship have delicate aromas considered suitable for the mood of devotion.
The flowers that are seen here are also used by the ladies tp adorn their hair. This is also more common in the south, especially among the urban population, than in the north.
