Rice holds great significance in Indian culture. Because of its basic life-sustaining qualities, it is revered as a symbol of auspiciousness, prosperity and fertility. It is used extensively in Hindu customs including this wedding ritual.

Hi Dorian. a touching image of love and hope in a land where the female is worshiped in the form of Durga, Kali,Parwati, Saraswati,Lakshmi, yet sadistic rapes of young women is not unusual, and these sometimes are followed by the murder of the victim.I quote from the New Internationalist:"The activist Kavita Khrishnan has spoken of a new wave of' deep introspection about how we end up sustaining violence and discrimination against women.'The most dramatic demo. happened in Delhi after the rape and murder of a student.Your image is heartwarming but as in the West, in countries like Australia, where a woman dies every week at the hands of of her partner, being a woman is not easy and I can only wish this bride good fortune. Regards. Klaudio.

A well composed picture (and different`) from the usual wedding photo.I like the brides colourful bangles -- simple but effective.

A perfect close up which summarize well the event, but I would have liked to see a little bit more of the man's hands. Perfect sharpness and splendid bokeh to illustrate this moment.

Excellent composition and good presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
