Photographer’s Note

He was much taller than anyone else in that weekly market where it rained constantly, and so busy the negotiation that I could take a series of photos very close without them paying attention. His face was very expressive ; with his curly hair and different looks, to me he seemed a bit like an Ethiopian (I dream to go to that country but only saw photos from there).

(I had stepped out of the damp bus on an impulse and took plenty of photos just to remember what I saw : tribal people in their colourful clothes with umbrellas, seas of umbrellas, and everyone laughing, smiling, happy despite the rain – the air was full of fun and lightness… My IXUS became almost as wet as me (soaked till the bones, really !), the LCD foggy, fortunately I had the spare one with me and carried on shooting a bit randomly...)

j'aimerais bien signer cette photo. C'est ma facon de dire a quel point j'aime une creation photographique. Encore un moment special dans un lieu original. Accessible a mes yeux grace a toi. J'aime bien la position des parapluies et l'expression du visage. La pluie donne la dynamique. Marci amie

Bonjour Catherine,

Il y a une veritable presence sur cette photo, c est vrai que cet homme rempli litteralement le cadre. De plus, la mauvaise meteo visible sur l image donne un caractère réel et presque documentaire a cette scene. Un temoignage.
Je regrette un peu les limitations apportées par le compact, notamment par le bruit tres visible dans l image. Je pense que le bruit a ete amplifié par une sous exposition rattrapé: les appareils sont souvent trompés par les ciels blancs. Avec un reflex tu aurais surement eu un fichier plus propre, mais de l autre coté tu serais passée surement moins inapercue et tu n aurais peut etre pas pu prendre cette photo ce qui aurait ete dommage.
Au final, il vaut mieux avoir une image que pas du tout.

And he is quite good-looking, isn't he? ;) He doesn't seem to mind the rain. I like the way he hangs the umbrella over his shoulder so that he can use his hands while bargaining. You captured a nice moment. Sitting in my office, having a short break from work, I suddenly want to be there, in the rain, in a foreign place, wearing a loose, simple dress and flip-flops (my favorite style). TFS.

I love the feeling of spontaneity from this picture, so obviously not arranged in any way. And once again I notice how fantastic colours can get when it's raining. The muddy street brings me strong memories of rainy days in India.

très bon cadrage, ces photos sous la pluies sont originales et de très bons documentaires sur la vie quotidienne sous la pluie, qui n'a l'air de pas les déranger, ces parapluies sont décidemment photogéniques

Hello Catherine, is a singular and daily image of the life in some part of the India, the colors, the light and the naturalness of the persons calls me very much the attention and I like, especially the big definition in which it is possible to appreciate even the raindrops on having fallen down.

On peut lire de la douceur sur le visage de cet homme qui doit légèrement se courber en face de son interlocuteur. On dirait qu'il essaie de le convaincre, et c'est un tout petit peu dommage(pas si important que cela non plus) que l'on ne puisse pas voir le visage de l'autre personne.

rien ne t'arrêtes , même sous la pluie battante tu arrives encore a faire de superbes photos, belle attitude de cet homme au physique différent, malgré l'averse les couleurs sont étonnement lumineuses .

Tu nous donnes encore une fois à voir la réalité d'un petit marché, le quotidien des gens modestes, les sentiers peu battus... c'est tout cela que j'apprécie dans tes photos.
