| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Kabita lives with her father, grandparents and six uncles high up in the mountains at 13500 ft in a tinshed near the India-China border in North Sikkim.
Her family is one of the lowest in the social ladder being migratory Nepalese manual labour. They have no land, voting rights, for that matter very few rights as such. Her two uncles are invalid and others works as casual workers for road building.
Kabita’s mother left her and her father for another man when Kabita was thirteen months old.Kabita is being brought up her grandmother who takes time off her busy routine of cooking and cleaning to fuss over Kabita.Kabita also helps in household chores, washing small utensils and clothes.
Kabita does not go to school and perhaps never will. |

Both the note and the photo are beautiful, the note even exceptional.
It's not necessary to say anything about the technical aspects of the photo, Kabita is there! . . . with a warm smile . . . and eyes full of life.
It's hard when reading the note . . . to realize how hard it is not only for Kabita but for the whole family. . .
I wish all the best to all of them . . . Nitin, thanks for sharing :)
Olá Nitin,
Beautiful portrait. Ver well done.
Thanks for sharing
Raimundo
Hi Nitin,
wonderful portrait of little Kabita...who leads already an adult life. Despite the hardship look at that smile...The photograph is great and your important note brings her even closer to our hearts. Let's hope that something will happen to help her and her family...
