In Queue, a photo from Sikkim, Northeast

Photographer's Note

This is at Phensang monastry something like 40 kms from Gangtok capital of Sikkim. This monastry was built in 1741 - got destroyed by fire and was rebuilt in 1947. The scene is just after the prayers when all big and small lamas sit in row with their wooden plates awaiting their turn to get fed. The chief diet is of rice which is doled out from a wooden cart.

You have managed to capture a very graphic image. I just find the slight tilt a bit disturbing. This has happened because, probably, you were not perfectly in front of the window and the perspective has made the lines diagonal rather than straight. also, try to improve colours/contrast in post processing. As a moment and as a subject the photo is excellent.

A very nice picture Mukesh, nicely framed with beautiful colors. Too bad, nobody was looking at you, otherwise is a nice shot.

A striking picture, if only for the window but the line of patient Buddhist monks adds another dimension of cultural ceremony. They might benefit by a little post-processing sharpening but the perspective on the window doesn't bother me but I would have liked all of the window to show. I've also had a misapprehension corrected - I had thought Buddhist monks wore yellow robes.

great composition and nice, pleasing colors. too bad it wasn't a bit more straight and the top of the window wasn't complete. but regardless, very nice.

Great image. The row of monks below the window if beautiful.. Too bad you could not fit all the window in the frame,but still good.

Nice one Mukesh. U have captured a lovely moment here. I love the mood and the color here. Just wondering if the sharpness could have been better here? Bala
