Not sure which to upload..this post or THIS ONE...either way the beauty consumes us !!

Continuing..sharing...experiences..places..people.

The second of the holy Gurudongmar Lake..17100ft..North Sikkim,India.

The first one When Nature Calls.. in case youve missed it !

This place is special to me bacause of the circumstances under which i made it here..hence the title..

The entire lake takes 3 hours to circumnavigate..since i had started at 3am..i had enough time to do it till the I hit the deadline..

Laura (Aurora_borealis) was kind enough to provide the information to the origin of the strong winds..strong enough to blow army trucks away..

her explnanation reads as follows..

"The air above the tibetan plateau heatens up during morning and the air starts to rise into higher elevation, whereas it acts like a giant vacuum cleaner, sucking up all the air from the lower valleys..." - from her critique to the last Gurudongmar Upload.

The incredible thing is the lake provides a different views every hundred metres..the light works like magic on the snow and the emerald green water..

Impressive scenary! This is beautiful! The blue of the lake and the sky are spectacular. I think I prefer the other version because the distracting bit at the bottom right corner disappears. Still, the amazing mountain gets cut off a bit. So I guess my choice would be something in between the two versions.

A breath taking nature shot. Fantastic place to be I am sure. You picture is also very crisp and sharp with well controlled light. Only suggestion is to crop the bottom right part which is not adding any value rather distracting from the beautiful mountains and clouds.

Amazing scene! Both the lake with the ice border and the mountains are just exquisite. I love the scarcity of colors: blue, white and the color of earth. The contrast with some man-made colors in the corner is perfect.

If I had seen your picture two months ago, I would have gone to Sikkim, when I was in the neighborhood.

Hi Sayeed, Great image from part of India I've not been to. I think I prefer this one to the WS, but wonder whether it could have been made even better by cropping a bit off the bottom, losing the red thing in the corner. The graduated colour in the sky works well. Was this caused by CPL filter? cheers, Steve

In ws I like plain snow all on the bottom. Here better quality of photo especially sharpness and great colours (white snow, more blue sky and beautiful emerald like).

they are both splendid, but I prefer the ??? version for its crop and its most semplicity.
Anyway they are two excellent images with really great light and amazing colors.

what a splendid landscape,superbly enhanced by these wonderful colours!The white and blue give marvelous contrasts. I like how the ice of the frozen lake remind the snow of the mountains,and I like the beautiful blue reflection of the sky!A wonderful place that I would like to visit!

Salut Sayeed,
Magnifique scène avec le lac à demi gelé et les montagne enneigées. J'aime beaucoup la pureté et l'harmonie des couleurs. Les élément en bas à droite dérangent un peu et je préfère la version panoramique qui nous permet d'admirer le paysage dans toute sa beauté mais c'est quand même une belle photo.
