Photographer’s Note
The Naga are people living in the states of Arunachal, Assam, Manipur and above all in Nagaland.
Some of them are living in Burma.
The Konyaks are distinction Nagas, centering in the north of Nagaland, mostly in Mon district.
They have 6 Anges (Chiefs, kings) controlling all Konyak villages.
This picture was taken in the biggest konyak village of Longwa – situated half on brumes land and half on Indian land.
Just old men are still tattooed, and in the following series I’ll bring some of those warriors’ faces.
At the past I Uploaded 4 pictures of Konyaks from my visit on Dec 2006.
One chief died since then and the other is dying now.
a short movie that I filmed back then from other parts of Nagaland, I Uploaded in www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YTzV4R33xg
Enjoy!

The portrait is very good, sharp and interesting, but an explication note would have been very appreciated.

hi Yuval
This portrait is something looking like a tribal style in Borneo jungle but sadly without any note.

hu yuval,
I was drawn into this one by the thumbnail and wasn't disappointed: it's an unusual, cleverly taken portrait.
well done

Two disappointing things about this photo:
1. Such a brilliant photo and no note
2. this could easily have been Nat Geo's "photo of the year".
Jokes apart...brilliant photo. Full marks for composition, DOF, sharpness, colors and how beautifully you have got the character of the face which reflects India's richness in terms of cultural diversities.

Hello Yuwal,
This is an excellent portrait from a part of India where few foreigners are allowed to go. I agree with others who have requested an explanatory note. I would have like to know about the circumstances of this photo and something about the Konyak people. I am even curious of how you managed to enter Nagaland and Arunachal.
Regards,
Gert

This is a beauty, I am jealous - not only would i liek to have this in my portrait gallery but you managed to get to a place that i very much would like to visit. Great framing, subtle colour tones, just the large copyright is annoying, but i suppose you have your reasons.
