This picture reminds me of at least two lakes I have seen in Victoria Australia, where huge areas of trees have been flooded to create resevoirs.It does look rather strange to see trees coming up out of the water.
Interesting background.

If I am not wrong the lake got its name after Madhuri Dixit shot a scene from the bollywood movie 'Koyla' here. Isn't it?
