Photographer’s Note

At the time of dawn at Ghats in Varanasi the atmosphere is very lively and religious rituals are going on. Boat ride at that time is giving very special experience. I have taken this shot during my boat ride.

What a beautiful sunrise at the Ghats. I managed to see and photograph it a few times so far, but I have not been to India for 9 years. I would love to return, when my job would permit, that I just take off an travel in India for 8-12 weeks, what I did often in the 1980s and 1990s. I had sunrises at the Ghats but never with the boats as you got it. I like your photograph a lot. Colors are vibrant and the sharpness is fine. Well done

Hi Mahendra,

lovely sunset shot. There is a nice degradeé from top to bottom and the silhouettes work perfectly as the contrasting element. The sun is also well placed in the frame. Great job!

The colors and the light of the sunrise create a beautiful image and a very interesting atmosphere, with the silhouettes of the boats under the orange light of the Sun.
The result is very attractive at sight, and the composition is executed perfectly.
