Photographer’s Note
Sitting in the doorway of a four foot high mandir, this pujari (temple priest) was enjoying the glowing Himalayan sunshine that morning. The shadows cast from the network of temples provided just the dark background needed for such a contrast. He was casually looking around, so it was difficult to get a picture of him looking in this direction. As a rule, I never interfere with subjects, so I had to wait for the right moment.
