Photographer’s Note
... And then we reached Bedni Bugyal. Bugyal means a high altitude grassland in the local dialect. Bedni is at an altitude of around 3500 mts and commands an awesome view of the Himalayan Ranges. Trisul and Nanda Ghunti peaks are almost at a stone's throw from this lush green meadow.
All the villagers graze their sheep and horses here. The place is sacred to Nanda Devi. There is a temple of Nanda Devi next to a small lake called Bedni Kund.
Every 12 years thousands of devout pilgrims make an arduous trek to Roopkund from Nauti Village. They follow a mysterious four horned lamb that is born every 12 years near Wan village. The lamb leads them to Nanda Devi shrine through Bedni Bugyal, Roopkund & Homkund and then on its own and finally disappears. This Yatra (pilgrimage) is known as 'Nanda jat' or 'Raj jat Yatra'.

A very nice shot Amol! The subject of the picture and the note you wrote are both great. What I mostly like is the distanced point of view - the way the sheep are presented from a high altitude is really amazing. It's like I am there too and I can see them! Good job!

Baidini Bugial [or Bedni Bugial] is one of the beautiful places of this route.
You captured the right shot for a bugial buddy.
Good POV. Well lit.
This yatra is also known as Bari Nanda jat.
Put mythology in your note to make them attractive since we love to listen to stories always.

Nice contrast between the brown of the meadows and the green of the forest below. And lovely to see so many sheep. Nice POV.

Hi Amol
Very amazing POV to shot sheeps. They seem so near from the edge of the mountain...
Astonishing !

Hello!
This is a picture with a big potential. Such splitting of picture often works good, and here it's even better than in usual as we have those sheeps, the living element really adds here.
But I can see two serious flaws:
- overexposure - stop down maybe 1/2-2/3, it would really help
- the line of division is quite ineffective - try something more radical :), this one is quite boring..
Take care!

Hi Amol, very impressive portfolio, esp. those of northern India, a part of the country unknown to me, so thanks very much for posting these beautiful photos. This one is superb and I enjoyed it very much, with repetition of all these sheep (even a black one!), from incredible POV and in really nice light, thanks for sharing! Daniel
