Photographer's Note
Located at a distance of 3km from Bhimtal in Uttarakhand, Sattal is an exceptional tourist spot with a cluster of freshwater lakes. Set at an altitude of 4000 feet, at the foothills of the Himalayas, Sattal is surrounded by dense forest of oak and pine trees.
As one approaches towards Sattal, the first lake is Nal-Damyanti Tal which is full of colourful fishes. Another one is the Panna Tal, also known as Garud Tal, and further on the bunch of three lakes namely, Ram Tal, Laxman Tal and Sita Tal. The other two lakes which have probably dried up now are Purna Tal and Sukha Tal. The pristine lakes of Sattal are rich in birdlife and are a home to migratory birds. The area is ideal for nature walks and butterfly watching.
